Accessibility

We want every family to be able to use this website, visit our office and take part in our program.

Our commitment

Children’s Kingdom is committed to meeting the accessibility needs of people with disabilities in a way that respects dignity and independence, under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.

This website

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In building this site we have:

  • used real headings, landmarks and lists so screen readers can navigate the page;
  • made every function reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a skip-to-content link;
  • checked text and background colours for contrast, and never used colour alone to carry meaning;
  • written labels, hints and error messages that say what is wrong and how to fix it;
  • respected the operating system’s “reduce motion” setting;
  • allowed text to be enlarged to 200% without loss of content;
  • written alternative text for images that carry meaning, and hidden decorative ones.

[Once real photographs and the parent handbook PDF are added, have them checked again — images need alternative text and the PDF needs to be properly tagged, or offered as an accessible Word or HTML version.]

Alternate formats

Any document on this site — the parent handbook, our policies, forms — is available in an accessible format or with communication support on request, at no extra cost. Tell us what works for you and we will arrange it in a timely way.

Our office and our program

[Describe the physical accessibility of your office: step-free entrance, accessible washroom, parking, and how someone should let you know about a barrier before a visit.]

Service animals and support persons are welcome. We will let families know promptly if an accessible feature is temporarily unavailable and what the alternative is.

Feedback

If any part of this website, our office or our program is difficult for you to use, please tell us. Feedback is welcome by phone, email, letter or in person, and we will reply in the format you prefer.
